The National Educational
Opportunity Centers Association

NEOCA

NEOCA Technology Committee:

In September 2000, the NEOCA Technology Committee was formed and was charged with the mission of exploring the development of a single Access database that will meet the data management and reporting needs of Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) programs across the Nation.  In addition, members of the NEOCA Technology Committee have developed a web site and an email group service, both of which are described below.

To date, Educational Opportunity Center programs have been going in different directions with their program databases, each expending dollars from their budgets--sometimes considerable amounts--in an effort to create a database that suitably reports the activities and services of their program.  A single database available to all Educational Opportunity Center Programs and incorporating as a whole the important aspects of each program's reporting can eliminate this duplication of effort.

NationalEOC Group:

The NationalEOC groups at yahoogroups was established in October 2000 to serve as an electronic communication forum for NEOCA professionals.  To join the NationalEOC group, send a message to NationalEOC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.  Then simply start sending messages to members of this groups at:  NationalEOC@yahoogroups.com.  If you are not currently participating in NEOCA's email group service, join today by sending an email!

If you decide to cancel your participation in the NationalEOC group, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to: NationalEOC-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

The NationalEOC group was set up and is moderated by Russell Raczkowski of the Minnesota EOC.  For more information, contact Russell or email NationalEOC-owner@yahoogroups.com.

NEOCA Web Site:

In January 2001, the NEOCA website made its debut on the Internet.  The NEOCA website, found at http://neoca.freeservers.com/ includes information about the organization, its officers, committees, newsletters subscriptions and membership, annual conference information and a downloadable Conference Registration Form and Agenda, and quick links to the U.S. Department of Education, the Council for Opportunity in Education, regional associations, training opportunities, and more.

In the future, the NEOCA website will also include an on-line listing of Educational Opportunity Center programs state-by-state, with links to individual program web pages and email.  The NEOCA website was developed and is updated by Gera Lynn Drake of the Commonwealth Educational Opportunity Center at Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky.
